ADT^A01: Admit/visit notification
Sent when a patient is admitted, usually as an inpatient, or when a visit starts. It opens an encounter: PID carries the patient, PV1 the visit (patient class, location, attending doctor), and many feeds add NK1, DG1, AL1 and IN1.
